About Brooksie Wells

Early Career:
Brooksie Wells began her musical journey at just 19, when she was discovered by legendary artist Bobby Darin. She soon signed with Chappell Music, writing songs that appeared on recordings and in movie soundtracks. During her time in New York, she also recorded with John Lennon’s band, Elephant’s Memory, and toured as a vocalist with Kid Creole and The Coconuts.

Focus on Family and Children’s Music:
After years in the city, Brooksie moved to Virginia to raise her family, where her music turned toward children’s performance and education. She became an artist-in-residence at The Montessori School of McLean and released a beloved children’s album, Pineapples, Butterflies and Dinosaurs, celebrating imagination and creativity through song.

Return to Folk Music:
In 2008, Brooksie returned to her folk roots, writing songs for both guitar and piano that reflect her life, experience, and storytelling spirit. Now based in Atlanta, she continues her creative work as a producer at 800 East Studios.

Recent Success:
Brooksie’s 2021 album Stops Time reached No. 4 on the Folk Charts in the U.S., marking her third consecutive Top Ten release. Her 2015 album North East Rising Sun also earned widespread acclaim, securing a Top Ten spot on the Folk DJ Charts and further establishing her as a powerful voice in contemporary folk music.
